Prior to taking over the management by Aman Group in 2001 this industry was a sick unit of the Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited. Having been satisfied with the management of Aman Cold Storage the Bank came forward with the request FOR taking over the unit by the Group. Situated in the suburb of Rajshahi within the Industrial estate of Bangladesh Small & Cottage Industries Corporation this unit had a capacity of storing 6732 MT per season up to 2001. Accordingly the unit was taken over by the Group and after running the same successfully for one year the capacity of storage was enhanced to 13500 M.T per season. The total space now available is 98896 sft. The renovation of the storage has been carried out with modern machinery and automatic control system from Denmark for uniform temperature & humidity, required for preservation of potatoes. Presently more or less 1050 number of beneficiary enjoys the services rendered by the unit.
The Group itself also uses the storage for preservation of HYV seed potatoes for farmers’ use & the use of Aman Plant Tissue Culture Laboratory.
